DIAPOLE MOMENT OF WATER - simple terms
Diapole moment of water
As we all know that the water has more diapole moment as 1.85 D or 6.17*10 - 30 cm. So this water is a good solvent of Ionic salts which can be easily breakable and dissolved in to ions. These salts always contains either a Metal cation or a cation derived ammonium(NH4+).
A diapole moment is the product of the Magnitude of the Charge and the distance between the centres between positive and negative charges.
Diapole = magnitude of charge x distance between centers of positive and negative charges.
