 Hydrolysis

                        Hydrolysis is a process in which the chemical substance and water is intereacted in a chemical reaction.  In this process both water and the substance react with each other in a decomposition reaction.  Genarally this type of reaction takes place in salts, carbohydrats, proteins and fats etc,.

     In the above image you can clearly see that when methyl acetate is reacted with water in hydrolysis reaction, then it will became acetic acid and methonol.
